Call for Research Participants

An exploration into the lived experience of practicing therapists who have a long term skin condition

I am undertaking a research project that explores the experience of having a long term skin condition and its implication for therapeutic practice. I am particularly interested in exploring how therapists make sense of their skin condition in both their personal process and in the therapeutic process.

Criteria

I would like to hear from you if:

  • You are a qualified therapist (counsellor, psychotherapist, counselling psychologist)

  • You have an established practice and/or are working as a therapist

  • You have or have had a skin condition (for instance psoriasis, eczema, allergic dermatitis etc.) that contributes to your skin being sensitive or itchy

  • You feel that your skin condition plays or has played an important part in your personal process and therapeutic practice

What is involved

If you fulfil the above criteria and would be interested in taking part, then please contact me.  Your participation would involve taking part in a confidential audio recorded interview at a location convenient to you. I expect this interview would last between 60 to 90 minutes.

Ethics

This research project is part of the Minster Centre MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and has been approved by the Minster Centre’s Ethics Committee. My research – including interviews and data storage - is being supervised and conducted in accordance with the BACP’s ethical guidelines.

If you would like to know more, please contact me for further information.
