Is therapy for me?

Therapy can help with dealing with current life events (such as bereavement, illness, redundancy etc.) or life changes, offering new ways of coping with stress and anxiety. People also come to therapy to explore their identity, look at relationship patterns, deal with past traumatic experiences that still impact them today.

There are no set reasons whether someone should have therapy or not. An initial conversation on the phone can help define if therapy can help you.

There is an increasing recognition of the need to look after one’s mental health. There is also less stigma around seeking help for mental health issues through counselling. The field of counselling and therapy has evolved towards shorter-term work focusing on clients’ goals and towards more human relational approaches moving away from the silent therapist.
